Around the Interwebs

So, a few weeks ago, I had to fill out a bunch of new-patient paperwork for my optometrist, and there was a question on one of the forms asking something to the effect of, “How many hours a day do you use a computer?” Ummmm… what? I started to panic, thinking about the “correct” answer, and what an acceptable amount of usage might be, because really, I’m probably way over that. WAY. I sit in front of a 27″ iMac for about 7 hours a day… and then I go home and get on my iPad or macbook for at least another hour or two. Okay, so maybe in the grand scheme of people-who-sit-in-front-of-computer-screens all day, I don’t have it that bad. But it’s more than normal people I think, and since I have one of those brains that just won’t. shut. off, I do a lot at one time… for example, right now, I have at least 10 safari windows pulled up on my desktop, and with multiple tabs in each screen. And photoshop, and iPhoto, and spotify, and a few others. I just… multitask like it’s going out of style.

I wrote a guest post for the McG blog a few months ago on “where I find inspiration,” including a bit on how I keep my crazy, multi-tasking brain organized. Pinterest has helped. It keeps all those images and ideas I used to save in folders on my computer, or jot down on pieces of paper in one place. Bloglovin’ has helped. I don’t forget to check in on my favorite blogs, and it’s a heckuva lot easier to deal with than an RSS reader (in my opinion, at least). But sometimes, I just need to get it all out. So, this will be my introductory “Around the Interwebs” post. Have you found anything interesting/fun/awesome/weird online this week? I’d love to see!

Acquisitions:

I bought this on Friday – still haven’t exactly mastered the application process, but I’m loving the results. Way more brown than orange, and I’ve received tons of compliments. AND, the nice ladies in the store made me the best sample bag to take home – it was like getting a free, unexpected Birchbox! Speaking of which… I still haven’t received this month’s Glossybox… hmmm.

J.Crew is having an online sale that ends today (additional 30% off sale with code MUSTHAVE). There are a few items in my cart, but I’m having trouble making a final decision… le sigh. I’m really a terrible online shopper. I love to browse, but I’m always so scared to commit! What if the sizing is off? What if I can’t return it? I hate paying for shipping!! Some of my favorites: (two-pocket chambray shirt (factory), pink “sandy brown” jersey Lomellina ruffle top + string hipster (I’m dying for a nude bikini right now!), Annette calf hair peep-toe heels (these have been sitting in my Pinterest “Shoes” board for months), Amie maxi dress (in a heathery indigo color), Blythe blouse in neon rose, linen shorts in safari cat.

Dying to DIY:

All the fun shorts projects I’ve seen on the Interwebs this week. These three are my favorite:

1. Beautiful, hand-sewn sequined shorts by A Pair and a Spare
2. Distressed denim cutoffs by The Glamorai
3. Hand-applied polka dots using a pencil eraser, by Say Yes to Hoboken

Swooning over:

This vintage bridal shoot by Heather Telford Photography, featuring Rachel of Pink Peonies

And this beautiful wedding by the Nichols – custom BHLDN dress, tons of doilies, a succulent ceremony background… so dreamy.

Wanting to make:

Rustic French Macaroons and Mexican Lime Chicken Soup

Etsy Finds:

These awesome jellyfish air plants from PetitBeast (obsessing over air plants since I saw this wedding on SMP, featuring air plant bouquets. Another fabulous design here)

Jellyfish Airplants

And a few more random things:

Getting excited about the Dallas Flea in September – a little irritated that it’s the same day as Grapefest…

Starbucks Refreshers. Can’t get over them. They are the perfect non-alcholic poolside drink – the strawberry lemonade flavor is my favorite

That’s about it! Getting ready for a BFF visit this weekend – I haven’t seen Betsy since Christmas! TOO long!

Love that you are blogging now. This months glossybox was a good one(IMO), so it will be worth the wait. Have you looked into Julep Maven or Beauty Fix, I recently found some great promo codes on them and took the plunge. I got my julep box for .01! I have the St Tropez gradual one and I love it. I tried the tanning towels that came in the BB and they turned me orange :( .

I invested in a J. Crew chambray shirt (outlet purchase – great sale) and I LOVE it. I wear it all the time with shorts and heals and funky jewelry. And thanks for the heads up on the Dallas Flea – I think it’ll be pretty easy to convince Mr. Right to tag along with me.

    Welcome back to the blogosphere!

I didn’t get it. UGH. I think I need to make a trip to the Grapevine Mills outlet store, so I can try it on. Shirts with buttons are weird on me. And thanks! It’s good to be back!
